Day 17...Pore Strips

I found this tutorial on Pinterest that is a diy for Biore Pore Strips.  It's super easy, all you need is (1) tbs. of unflavored gelatin (I found this in the jello isle) and 1-1/2 to 2 tbs. of milk.  I used a plastic cup I could throw away to put it in.  It asks for a popsicle stick to mix it with and to spread on your face, I didn't have one, so I used a plastic knife.  You microwave the mixture for about 10 seconds and immediately put it on your face.  It's hot so be careful.  Let it dry for 15 minutes, I think I let mine dry longer.  Then you peel it off.  Here's me with it on.

Then you remove it, I had a really hard time getting some of mine off.  It really hurt pulling it off especially around my hairline because my hair got stuck in it.  Some of it I couldn't get off because it was hurting so bad, so I got a washcloth and put it in hot water and put it on my face.  This helped the gelatin become soft and was fairly easy to remove.  I was a little disappointed because they claim to do the same thing as the biore strips, which is to remove the blackheads, it didn't do that.  It did although leave my skin really soft and smooth.  It was fun to try.

Day 16...Nails

So, I tried something new with my nails.  It doesn't look as cool as chloes nails blog, and definitely don't compare her photo skills and painting skills compared to mine.
I don't know what happened with this nail, I put on a clear coat and later it looked like this.  I still think the design on the nails looks cool.

Day 15...Cheesy Chicken and Rice Bake

I made this for dinner the other night, and it turned out pretty tasty.  Not as good as Lime Chicken Tacos, but it was still good.
Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 4 cups Cooked Brown Rice
  • ¾ cups Frozen Corn
  • 15 ounces, fluid Can Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed
  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt (or Sour Cream)
  • 4 ounces, fluid Can Green Chilis
  • ½ cups Salsa
  • 1 cup Low-fat Cheddar Cheese, Plus More For Topping
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Cilantro For Garnish

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except for cilantro and mix thoroughly to combine. Make sure the yogurt and cheese are stirred in throughout the entire bowl. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Transfer to an oven-safe dish and top with extra cheese if you would like. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until heated through. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
To make this process easier, I always have cooked chicken on hand, and use Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice. If you have those two things, this can be throw together in a matter of minutes! It can also easily be made ahead of time and reheated.

Day 14...T-Shirt Scarf

This is the other scarf I made over the holiday.  I kind of copied from here and mixed with this.

Day 13...T-Shirt Scarf

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my sisters-in-law and I went and bought a some shirts and made a some scarves.  We went off a few ideas from Pinterest and tweeked them a little.  Check it out:
For this scarf, I basically did the same thing as this scarf but I did every other loop smaller than the other.

Day 12...Pumpkin Dip

This post doesn't need a lot of explaining, I wanted to make a non main dish.  I found this on Pinterest and it tasted a lot like pumpkin pie, which I love.  I did forget the whipped cream but is still tasted good.  Here's the recipe:

{1} 15 oz can of pumpkin
{1} 5 oz box of instant vanilla pudding
{1} 16 oz container of cool whip  {low fat}
{1} small pumpkin
{1/2} tbl Pumpkin Pie Spice
{1/2} tbl Cinnamon

Mix all ingredients together, cover, and place in fridge for several hours.  Serve with apples or vanilla wafers or whatever else you like.

Day 11...Skirt

So, I you're thinking that I'm way behind on my posts.  Well, to be exact, I'm 7 days behind on them.  Don't worry, I did a few things over The Thanksgiving holiday.  I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving, I know I did. So, I have found several diy skirts on pinterest, but decided I'd better start easy first.  So, here's my first skirt,  I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself considering it's been a while since I've sewn any clothing items.  I basically went off of freshly picked tutorial and used gather fabric tutorial to gather the waist.

Day 10...Nail Art

I bought some new nail polish the other day.  I've become obsessed with the color gray, so that is the color I bought.  I decided to tone it down a little bit because lately I've been wearing bright polish.  I also bought some nail art pens so take a look at the polish and the pen on my nails.  By the way, here's two pictures, they didn't turn out so good...oops.

Day 9...Fabric Ring

I can never find any trendy rings that fit my fingers, they are too small.  So, I found this on pinterest, and it is super easy and this ring actually fits.  Find the quick tutorial at home made ginger. Enjoy.

Day 8...Leather Braclet

This project was really easy and really fun.  All I used was a piece of leather, thread, ribbon, and snaps.  Take a look:

Day 7...Beaded Necklace

Making this necklace was kind of a challenge for me because I haven't really made jewelry.  It was pretty easy when I got the hang of it.  I got the idea from Pinterest from DIY necklace and here's their picture:
  And here's mine:
Basically I strung all the beads to make one necklace and then I folded it in half, tied the ribbon, sewed flower buttons, and sewed the black flower one.  Sounds much easier than it really was.  Actually the hardest part was finding string that would go through the pearls.  The first string I used was too big so I had to buy more.  What do you think?

Day 6...French Braid

I know it's been a couple days since I've posted, I know I've been slacking.  It's because I didn't have pictures, I promise I've been working.  So, Friday I wore my hair this way with the french braid in the back and a side messy  bun.  This idea I came up with myself, I usually will wear my hair on a side messy bun but Friday I decided to braid it.  I can't decide if it's cool or not, take a look.

Day 5...Lime Chicken Tacos

I know what you're thinking, "why would I choose food for my diy project?"  I know this isn't crafty but I wanted to start finding more ideas for cooking.  I always end up making the same thing over and over, so decided to find a few things on pinterest.  I found Lime Chicken Tacos and they were soooo good.  I got this picture off pinterest because my picture didn't do this dish justice.  Try out this recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts

Day 4...T-Shirt Scarf

This is another DIY scart I made from a t shirt.  I think I like this one better than the other scarf I made.  This scarf is much easier to make then the other scarf I made.  If you want the tutorial go to shwin and shwin

Day 3...Painted Boxes

So, this idea I came up with myself.  I had these boxes that I haven't used for a little while and decided I wanted to use them.  They were a dark brown color and I knew if I put them on the dark gray wall they'd just blend in, and I wanted them to stand out.  So,  I painted them white and  I think they turned out pretty cute.  I found the jacks piece  and the green vase at TJ Maxx for super cheap.  They weren't the color I wanted so I painted them.  I found the chrome vase at Ross and left as is.  Take a look at the finished product.

Day 2...Circle Wall Art

I'm super excited to post this project.  I've been wanting some really fun wall art for my bedroom and I found this cheap and easy do it yourself project that was perfect for me.  I can't take the credit for coming up with this idea myself.  I'm always getting ideas and inspiration from others, and I love it.  So, basically I took embroidery hoops and glued them together and spray painted them and voila...amazing.  There's a better tutorial at I am simply sarah

Day 1 ...T Shirts Ruffle Scarf

So, I'm starting my 30 day diy challenge today.  I went to the store yesterday to stock up with supplies so I will have everything I need for this week.  I'm really excited about all the projects I'm going to be doing.  Tyson, although, I don't think is very excited.  He was nervous yesterday about how much money I was going to spend, and was very happy that I didn't spend much.  For day 1 I decided to do one of the t shirt scarves on Pinterest.  I was sooo incredibly easy to do, it is a no sew scarf, the instructions say to use fabric glue but I sewed it anyway.  The blog I got the tutorial on was really easy to follow so here's the link for it:  the diy dish.  And here's the finished product, thanks to my amazing husband for the photos.  You can use old t shirts, but I didn't have any old t shirts, so I got this one at Hobby Lobby for $5.

Pinterest!!

I think it's about time for a new post, it's been sooo long.  I had planned on putting up pictures of our bedroom that we re-did with paint, bedding, furniture, and artwork/photos, but we haven't done that yet and there are a few more things that need to be done before pictures can be taken.  This post is about Pinterest, and about how much I love it.  So,  I have always wished I could french braid like my mom can and I've tried it before and it didn't look good.  I've found some super cute braiding ideas on pinterest and I have to share.  This one is probably my most favorite, go to my yellow sandbox for the tutorial.
Next, I really like this one because it looks like it is super easy and super cute, go to new england prepster
